Anthony Mantha Detroit Red Wings first round draft pick selected 20th overall in the 2013 NHL Draft.

Where he was: The 6'3, 190 pound forward Mantha played with Val-d Or, foeurs. Mantha had a great season as he played 67 games and reached the 50 goal mark, as he totaled 89 points in those 67 games. Mantha has all the tools the Red Wings look for in a player, he has a great skill set that separates him from other players in the draft class. All year Mantha was criticized for his lack of defensive zone play, which was true Mantha was not the best defensive forward to have on your team but he is a pure goal scorer not too often you get both.

Where he is now: The now 6'5, 204 pound forward who grew quite a bit over the past year is still playing with the Val-d Or, foeurs. Mantha has had a great season with the team as he has once again scored 50 goals and currently has 110 points in 52 games. Mantha has significantly made some serious changes to his defensive game as he is becoming a more 2 way sniper if you will. Mantha has also upped his assist totals from last year’s 39 to having 58 this season, which is a crazy difference.

Accomplishments this season: Mantha was very unlikely to play for Team Canada in the World Junior tournament in December and part of January, but due to his offensive skills and improving of his defensive coverage Team Canada management couldn't say no. Mantha lead Team Canada in goals with five and a total of eleven points in seven games played throughout the tournament in Malamo, Sweden. Another valuable stat is Manatha has 110 points in 52 games, when Mantha went to Sweden to play for Team Canada he missed ten games for the Val-d Or, foeurs. Another shocking stat is Mantha had reached the 100 point milestone in only 46 games played.
